Drought in Serbia

The first paper of the EXTREMES project, funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, has been published.

By utilizing the SPEI drought index, we analyzed the trends in the occurrence of droughts in Serbia. One of the main conclusions is that extreme and severe summer droughts have doubled over the past few decades, and that this change can be linked to the process of global warming. Further planetary warming in the decades ahead will likely lead to even more pronounced changes. For more information, please check the paper:
